Bajaj could not have Introduced KTM to the Indian market in a better way than with the launch of Duke 200, the awesome 200cc bike. This is perhaps the best offering in the 200cc segment. If a perceptual map of the prospects' is taken, then you name the attribute and Duke is going to rule it.
DESIGN-
Its brilliant. Its like an awe inspiring Samurai who has donned on a beautiful Black robe accentuated with the orange blaze. A new feature in the context of Indian biking is the location of the silencer, which is looking pretty smart. Apart from design, I particularly loved this feature because the exposed silencer is the most scratch prone part of the bike. The Seating is perfect to enhance its sex appeal. The beautiful white mono shock adds to the sporty looks. The pattern on the disk brakes imbue a feel of ninja chakra blades. Over all it is way better looking than other bikes in its segment (Its a personal opinion). Go to the following video for a 360 degrees view of the bike.

Few of the bikes with which the KTM Duke 200 would be competing are Hero motorcorps' Karizma, Honda CBR 250, Yamaha R15 V 2.0. Here is comparison in terms of certain specs from my side-
STRENGTH
- The design, (particularly the silencer).
- Bajaj's Existing distribution network.
- Very aggressive pricing.
- Its a foreign brand newly launched in India, the aspiration value would be higher.
WEAKNESS
- Available in Just one color scheme(so far).
- The digital display is bit difficult to read.
OPPORTUNITY
- The growing high end segment.
- A positive brand equity for KTM would be entrenched in India (It plans to launch a new bike every year).
THREATS
- Stiff competition from other players who are coming up with their own launches this year.
- The rising fuel prices.
- Banks contemplating on increasing rates for vehicle loans (majority of the working youth relies on EMIs)
The bookings for this Aphrodite starts this February. I wish them luck.
